Sew and Sew and Sew

Well I can mark 7 pieces off of my list of 100 items to sew this year. I have finished 3 curtains for my girlfriend Pearl (Hi Pearl, hope you are reading this). I visited my other girlfriend this weekend. She had already made this gorgeous skirt for herself and I asked if I could make coordinated TShirt dresses for her daughters (these are the ones I made the fairy curtains for). I also made a headband for one and a bandana for the other.

Kimmie Goes to Camp

C4 and I dropped Kimmie off at the Chartered bus headed to Frasher, Colorado. She and Grace are going with Bunnie and about 40 other people to Young Life Camp. I properly interigated, I mean, questioned the driver. She will gone until the 11th. I really don't know who's going to take care of me and C4, any volunteers?

HAVE FUN KIMMIE!

June 1 - Day 1

I FINALLY made it to the gym today. I did 30 minutes of treadmill and 3 reps of 'chest' weights. After buying 3 sleeveless tops this weekend (thanks Diane), I have to wake up some muscles!

It's the last day of school. C4 is now in 1st grade (sob, sob), and Missie Kimmie is now a junior/senior. Man, it seems like just 3 years ago when she started 1st grade.

Hope yall have a great summer!

I'mmmmmmmmmmmmm BACK!

Okay, so we have so much to catch up on (thanks Cindi, I needed that push to get back to my blog)!

Well the kids are perfect (of course).

C4 is in his 3rd season of Tee Ball. He has a combination of 8 trophies/ribbons from TeeBall/Soccer! He is currently playing left field. He can hit a line drive down the 3rd baseline everytime. Once the ump (apparently thinking this skill not possible for a 5 year old) called the ball foul after it was it. Well the ball never crossed the foul line (so take THAT).

The parent's on the team LOVE the nickname he's had since he was 8 months old "C4" (created by T-Steph because it took too long to type his whole name in instant messanger). They say it is because the ball EXPLODES when he hits it!!! Works for me. Go TeeBall RANGERS!!!!
WELLL, how do I put this???? I'll just have to come out with it. Miss Kim is seriously considering graduating from High School a year early!!!!! She dropped that bomb shell on me this week. No warning, no EMS, no nothin. I "guess" it's a good idea. I mean she's been asking to have her own apartment since she was 9. I've probably done good keeping her here until she is (almost) 17. Looks like c/o 2008 here we come. It hasn't been determined who will raise me once she goes off to college, but it looks like C4 is the only viable candidate.

Mediocrity always attacks Excellence

Heard that little gem on Oprah. Love It!

Sometimes when people criticize us, they are on to something.

Winter Ball 2007

I finished this dress just in time for Kim to wear it to the dance. It's a burnt orange tafitta. The pattern is a collection of flowers sewn on the fabric using strips of the fabric.

This is my first pattern design. I want to donate it to the Prom Dress group that gives dresses to girls who can't afford them. We'll see if Kim lets it go.

Gettin 'er Done!

484 Items to go!!!!

I am really having fun checking items off of my list. PLUS whenever I think of starting a new project, I realize it'll probably end up on the unfinished projects list so I don't do it. Instead I find something 'unfinished' to finish.

Plus now I HAVE to do these things since they are on my list. A coworker seems interested in starting her own lists of 100s. I'll keep you posted.

Another Good Idea

How cool is this?

I've been wanting to write a journal for the kids for years. Kind of like an extended baby book, but it never worked out too well. This may be the thing I need. Especially since all of the pictures of me growing up got washing away with Hurricane Katrina.

499 to go

So far I've completed 1 of my unfinished projects!

I replaced or tightened door knobs on all of the doors. I even WD40'd the front door which has been sticking for some time now!!!!

500 Things I will do in 2007

Bless her Heart! Jennifer shared this concept with me. The idea is to create something you will do 100 times/days/hours/miles/etc. by the end of the year.

Well you know how I love to make a list right?

Here we go:
1. Complete 100 unfinished projects
2. Sew 100 items
3. Complete 100 Scrapbook Pages and/or Cards
4. Read 100 books to Christopher
5. Walk 100 hours

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a great day at the grandparents'. Kim baked her first pecan pie (she and mother dear's favorite). It was excellent! I made my traditional candied yams (my favorite), mac n cheese (C4's favorite), and a Sock It To Me Cake (granddaddy's favorite). I don't know what Philip and Jobarron's favorites are, but they were there with us.

We used recipes from this site: www.cdkitchen.com/ It was soooooo good.

This year I am Thankful that we didn't have to drive 16 hours to spend the holiday with our family.

9/11

I remember the day well. I was helping Kimberly get ready to catch the school bus when I got a call from Joe saying to turn on the TV. I asked which channel and he said, 'it doesn't matter'. I watched the footage of the first plane which had crashed into the Twin Towers. I first thought it must have been an airshow gone terribly wrong. I kissed Kim and she walked to the bus stop. While watching the footage, a second plane crashed. I became very confused as to how a second plane would fly off course. When the announcement came that it might be a terrorist threat, I look out of my front door to see Kimberly step onto her school bus. I didn't know what to do. Should I get her?

That's as far as I got on this one.........

Kori

Today Christopher asked me if I thoughtm the name "Kimmie" was a little..... BORING. He has decided that her name should be Kori. I am still to call her Kimberly, but not Kimmie.

Fitness

So today was my Cardio Kickboxing class! I really enjoy these classes AFTER they are over. They are very challenging for people at every fitness level. I've gotten more of a workout today since I can participate in more of the moves. I think this is about my 6th class. The first class I only moved my legs or my arms, but not at the same time. Now I can box and do some low impact footwork! We had a substitute instructor so it was more of a challege to work on a new routine.

Yesterday was my second Yoga class. I really enjoy the energy I get from this class. It really opens up and lets the oxygen flow in thoughout the body. I have Yoga again on Tues. and Cardio KB on Wednesdays.

Laura F. and I attended classes together last Sun/Wed, but she was out of town this weekend so I went it alone. We are supposed to meet at the gym some time tomorrow I think. It's much more fun having a workout buddy.

Yesterday I met someone in my CKB class who had lap band surgery and has lost 130 pounds! WOW. She doesn't look like she's ever been overweight. I talked with her and she agreed I will get the same results from keeping up my workouts, making sure I eat protein (not a meat eater) and get enough water. Better choices all around. That is how I will do it!

First Week

The first week of school went very well. Everyone has settled in nicely. Today C4's teacher visited our church. Kim was the only one who saw her. Kim was working at Aromas (the coffee bar) when she recongnized someone. Ms. T came over to say hello. She said it was the first time she and her hurband had visited the church and that they are looking for a new church home. I hope they come back. I sent a note to her on Friday saying I would be the room parent if she doesn't already have one. I haven't heard back yet.

Today was Kim's first day to work at Aromas. I think she will really like it. I volunteered in the nursery today. Each parent is suppposed to volunteer once a month so this was my turn.

Friday was the first day of the church softball session. I played in the game. I got dizzy and fell running form 3rd home. I think my iron was too low. I took some vitamins when I got home and am feeling much better now. I skinned my knee, but other than that I had a lot of fun.

First Day of Kindergarten

Here is C4 and his teacher. He did very well.

This is where Kim's picture would be if she hadn't rushed out of the door to catch a ride with Grace.
