This is a Quilt made by one of the Parent's in Pher's school in Lafayette. The school's theme this year is '... following the Yellow Brick Road to EXCELLENCE'.

Mardi Gras Tree

REVISION: I took this second pic of Chris on Thanksgiving 2010 (10 mths later).

I sawthis tree at the Louisiana Welcome center. It's basically a Christmas tree decorated for Mardi Gras. I'm not sure when this tradition started. I'd only seen it recently. We had a safe trip to Lafayette. Chris got settled into our new home (in picture). We saw his new school on the drive. I drove back to Dallas on Monday. Chris started his new School today and told me that there are 2 recesses but they are only 12 minutes each (LOL) and that the lunch was 'okay'.

Movin on Down

C4 and I are moving to Lafayette, Louisiana. I withdrew him from school in Texas and tomorrow he will get enrolled in his new school. Monday is Dr. King's Holiday so he will begin class on Tuesday. We are going to live with my BFF and her family until we can get on our own feet. Please pray with me that this is a good move and that Chris and I florish in our new environment. We'll be living 45 minutes from Kimmie and I'm excited about that too!

Handsome young man!

I just cut Chris' hair. Couldn't wait to share this pic! Chris is 8 now and had a very good school year. He got All A's (AGAIN this year)! He also earned good citizen awards, grammer, writting, and math awards! I'm so proud of him. He loves going to Golden Corral when he gets his report cards. He earns a certificate for a free meal from his school when he makes the A-Honor Roll so every six weeks we go there to have dinner. Sometimes we have sister, grandparents, uncle, aunt, and cousin join us. Chris will be in the 3rd grade next school year!!!!!

We had a BLAST! We were supposed to meet up with a Meet-up Group for single parents but didn't make it in time for that. Instead we took lots of pics and had a picnic and had FUN!

As mentioned in earlier posts, C4 was an immediate fan of Barack Obama's. Today I am going to his school to be with his as our newly elected President is sworn into office. I've made a sheet for the kids to fill in tell a little bit about themselves on this historic day.

I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it.......

Barack, Michelle, and Oprah

A friend from high school forwarded this .jpg to me so what did I do? I sent it to be printed!!!!! I then put it in a frame and when C4 asked me if it was for him, I said YES! He just loves Barack (I'm sure he doesn't mind looking at Michelle or Oprah either). Now it's like he has his own picture of his hero!!!!

I Told You

When C4 woke up this morning I told him that Barak Obama won the election for President of the United States of America. He looked at me and passively said, "I told you".

He did. He told me before he went to bed last night. He had NO DOUBT in his mind. He had become a fan of President Elect Obama long before I had. He never wavered, not once! There was an election at his school yesterday and he (of course) voted for Senator Obama. When Kim (for the first time) and I early voted for the election, C4 was the one who actually pressed the choice for Senator Obama!

Now he knows for sure that he can one day be a President of the United States of America!!!!

I have NO IDEA how we pulled it off, but Kimmie is on her way to LSU within 8 hours of getting her acceptance call! Phew, I'm tired, but it was all worth it. My baby girl is going away to college. Twenty-one hours of labor AND THEN a C-Section..... was all worth it. God Bless you Kimmie, make me proud(er)!!!!!!

Little Drummer Boy

This is C4 after he asked some guys at Best Buy if he could play Drums with their 'band'. He used to be so shy, now he doesn't mind walking up to people and asking questions (he got my permission first).

Jungle Book

C4 and I went to see Amanda and Jessica perform in The Jungle Book at the Plaza in Down Town Garland. It was AWESOME!!!!!! I got their autographs and will save them until they are both rich and famous THEN I'll sell them on ebay! Just jokin ya! These autographs are PRICELESS! C4, Amanda, Jessica, and Ste Step (T Steph)

He ROCKS!!!!!!

That's Chris at the tippy top of the Rock Wall at Lifetime Fitness! A very nice gentlemen spotted him with the rope (they call it something else that I can't remember) and he made it all of the way to the top!

Finger Healing Nicely

C4's finger is looking MUCH better!!!! Day care has been soaking it and Jen reminded me to make sure it stays protected so he doesn't get the MRSA that could put him in the hospital or worse, so I will be doing just THAT!

C4's Tent Colony

As you can see, C4 is having a BLAST at Day Care dispite the infected finger! Thanks for tent Burns Family!!!!! Today is PJ Day at Day Care and the kids could also bring sleeping bags and tents! It's like a little tent city in the gym. All of the kids were in AWE of C4's tent (really used for camping by Miss HaiHai)! He picked a spot and immediately other kids moved their tents to be close to his.
